Today I received over 40 pieces of mail and the night is still young. I subscribed to SENAD (a sentinel discussion group) and those girls are quite verbose.

There has been a bit of discussion of UPN's new show Desmond Pfeiffer on alt.tv.sentinel, apparently similar discussions have also been had on SENAD and so I received two scathing reviews of the show at 6:30 and 6:45 pm PDT (yep my e-mail's set to check every 15 minutes.) One screaming about how horrible the show was the other taking a bit of time to analyze why the show was so incredibly bad. It's nice to know people on the east coast.

::goes away to read new mail::

Oh no, some of the women are getting really pissed that a show as bad a Pfeiffer could get a time slot when The Sentinel, a good show, was nearly canceled and only saved by a large out cry from Fans. There are people running around chanting, "Dean's gonna get fired, Deans gonna get fired," not a good sign. This on top of everything else is making UPN look *really* bad. Their only saving grace thus far seems to be Voyager and that they're bring back TS as a mid-season replacement.

I was complaining earlier today about how all the women on television are poorly characterized and stuck in confining gender roles and how that warps society's impression of what a woman should be, of course, I had just seen a commercial for Alley McBeal.

Half way through my tirade my mom just *looked* at me. Then, I started to think about my general complaints and realized there *are* strong lead female characters on television: Janeway, Seven, B'Elanna, Xena, Gabrielle, Scully, Darma, Daria, Kira, Dax, and a slue of others I'm forgetting. I guess i've been spending a bit too much time with anti-establishment womyn, actually they're not *that* bad :)
